Summer is winding down in the literal sense, with schools starting back this week and next, but summer is sticking around in terms of temperature.  I am realllllly longing for some leggings and boots with some soft fall sweaters.  I cannot wait to devour the September fashion magazines and scope out the new fall trends.  I just can't hold my breath until the weather begins to cooperate. These pics were taken while in Michigan in the most glorious temperatures in the mid-70s. I never knew long sleeves in August would be an option, but you Northern gals have got it made! Two months later...

Dear sweet little baby chickens-

It's been too too too long.   But don't worry, I have still been reveling in my merrymaker ways.

I cannot believe this week brings us the start of August.  Where is 2013 going? I dearly miss my blogging world, but alas, I have succumbed to sleeping in, indulging in lazy pool days, and everything else summer has to offer.

  I hope summer has been sweet to everyone.  I hope to recap my sister's wedding, showcase my summer go-to outfits, and share a few sneaks of what I have been doing lately.

Beale Street Music Fest 2013

Hellloooo and welcome to the post about one of my favorite weekends ever in this lovely little town of Memphis, TN. The first weekend in May starts the fun (and usually the rain showers) and you can expect some fun and big name bands to show up. Be prepared for iPhone pics because who wants to keep up with a camera when you may fall in the mud at any given moment? Precisely.

Usually it is super hot and sticky and gross, but this year the rain brought cooler temps and a constant threat of rain. It never really showered on us until Sunday night which is a blessing. My bright orange rain coat was my trusty accessory.

Friday night I saw Sheryl Crow (below) and Bass Nectar (not pictured.)

Saturday was THE BLACK KEYS! Such an amazing show and it is one I will remember for a looooong time.

Oh, and Dwight Yoakam was life changing and super fun.

Sunday was the day I was most looking forward to because The Black Crowes were coming back! I've seen them twice before and I just love those boys!!! Definitely my favorite part of the entire weekend.

Okay, I lied. My favorite part was having my friend Alli in town from Atlanta.

Goggles just in case the stage flooded.

And meeting Billy Joel*.

 

A good time was had by all. Definitely come see Memphis in the month of May and there is so much in store for you.

Merry Mondays

The amount of selfies (hate the word, love the action) that I took this weekend should be illegal. But, I think it's okay to do it when you get new hair or new shoes, or whatever. Right!? Also, if you can't take them at Target... WHEN CAN YOU?

Daiquiris and watching the Memphis Grizzlies game downtown was so fun! Great crowd and fun surprise parades.

Memphis the musical was such a ball! We dressed up and had dinner at Bluefin on S. Main downtown then walked to the Orpheum. I am thrilled I got to see the show this time. I go back in a few weeks to see Rock of Ages.

Instagram overload at the Southern Hot Wing Festival along the banks of the Mississippi river! The weather is perfecto here right now so for once its not miserable to be outside enjoying adult beverages and good friends.

So I'm beginning this Monday even more exhausted than I was on Friday, but it was totally worth it. Four day week for me... Here we go!

Fun Florals & Easter Eggs

Such a fun dress for Easter! (Thanks, Gwynnie Bee!)  I saw this and I knew it was the perfect dress to bring in the spirit of Easter (the Reese's PB eggs helped a lot, too!) Although, the cold and rainy day did not really oblige.  I'm not really breaking any ground here by saying that I am super obsessed with mint green lately.  From my bubble necklace, to my new purse, and now this dress!  I cannot get enough!! I think that mint green is even in the talks for my sister's bridesmaid's dresses. 

Cue the Hallelujah chorus.

Sheer Genius

It's not secret that this Merrymaker goes goo-goo over a dress every now and then!  It's now and then again! eShakti sent me this sheerly amazing dress a few months back, and it was the perfect dress for my first holiday party of the season! (p.s. POCKETS!!!) I am in LOVE with the sweetheart bust & sheer top.  Matched up with a studded, cropped blazer = bingo bango bongo! Oh, and no soiree is complete without my go-to red wedges.  Go check out eShakti! They have an amazing line of fall/winter dresses that are all FULLY customizable!  I wanted this to be a lady-like dress so I chose to have it hit right above the knee.  Gotta love that!!! It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's The Merrymaker!

I am so excited to be posting today!  Today is my official last day of summer, I got back for inservice and registration for the rest of the week.  The summer FLEW by, eight weeks of summer camp will do that to you.  I am super thrilled to get back and meet my new kids, and get on a recurring schedule of actual clothes (JEWELRY! Gasp!)  Field trips, crafts, and tennis shoes were fun- but I miss my sparkles and my dresses! Speaking of dresses, I saw this beauty in Target and knew it had to be mine. Birds! Collared! Sleeves!
I love the vintage feel of it.  I wore it to the movies once I finally had the time to go see Batman (It was only recently that I was super disappointed to find out that It's a BIRD, It's a plane! is actually Superman... but my heart will always belong to Bruce Wayne Christian Bale.) Whatev.
