Favorite Friday Dress

Have you ever made a brand new purchase, let's say an oversize, striped t-shirt dress, and then you find such complete happiness with it that you find it almost impossible to not wear it every other day?

Yeah... me neither.

This dress sometimes gives the appearance that I cut a neck hole in a bed sheet and ran out of the house, but it feels like a huge t-shirt and I just can't find an excuse to not wear it almost every day.  I've worn it like over half the days since I bought it.  #noshame

And if you can't wear your favorite dress on a Friday, then when can you?

Hey look, it's me getting dressed again! Feels good.  I love this turtleneck with every fiber of my being, it has to be like almost seven years old.  Thank Baby Jesus for stretch fabrics...

A little Where's Waldo and a little holiday color combo, I like the idea.

Perfect comfortable outfit for a day running errands and eating lots of macaroni & cheese.

I wore this outfit to my little sister's engagement party on Saturday night! It was just festive enough, but without sacrificing edge.  Yes, I am that girl who thinks adding studs to a completely girly outfit makes you edgy.  Aaaanywho, the party was a raging success with the most delicious food ever and a delightfully silly champagne toast given by yours truly.  I rarely wear neturals, but I think with the tiny pop of neon this outfit really works for me.  I love the muted tones.  Do you gravitate towards neutrals or loud pops of color?

P.S.  I don't know if all of you feel the same way Memphians feel about our hometown boy, Justin Timberlake, (which is lots and lots of mushy gushy love) but I love his whole CD especially the second radio release:

We made it halfway, little chickens!  HUMP DAY!  I can't believe it will be February in a few days.  I am definitely getting in the Valentine's mood.  That is- lots of hearts, glitter, pink and purple, candy shaped like hearts, love from kids, heart adorned outfits (just wait!), and much more. It is definitely the best holiday colors!  I'm too excited about bright colors to focus on this dark ensemble.  But I do love this scarf... and olive green.  And every merrymaker should own a pair of trusty leopard flats that never let ya down. Oxblood & Stripes

HEY THERE CHICKENS!

Berry? Oxblood? Maroon? Yeah, I don't know what color the tights are either, but I dig them.

They spiced up a boring black and white striped ensemble and I got a lot of compliments on them!  I sure will miss my tights collection when winter finally leaves, but I think it's an even trade for cute sandals and spring break.  Am I right?

I hope everyone had the best weekend ever! I have to admit, I did not get my preferred amount of R&R in, but I definitely had one of the busiest and laughter-filled three days ever.  I babysat for FOUR different families in four days, had my first Just Dance 4 experience, got in a birthday cake fight with one of dearest friends, and I refused to conquer the mountain of dirty laundry taunting me from the closet.  Come Sunday night all I wanted to do was enjoy a ginger ale and watch Toddlers and Tiaras.

But don't worry, I am in full merrymaking mode this week. 

Bring it, Monday, I am so ready for you.

Sneaky, Sneaky Weather

The weather was very very sneaky today.  First, it was supposed to be raining so I wore rain boots (I switched after the morning time,) the rain was over as soon as I got to work.  Then, it was so stunningly sunny, I was completely mislead and did not wear my coat to lunch.  Oh, but that wind... it was freezing and very very strong.  This round goes to you, weather, but you better believe I'll be ready next time.

Loved this top from the very first moment.  The colors, the stripes, the sheer-ness.  It will even come in handy to layer in the colder months.  Speaking of the changing seasons, I really wish that would hurry it on up and change, because I am dyyyyying over here.   Also, NEWSFLASH: I have a TJ Maxx obsession. Happy Hump Day!

I wore this last Thursday when I had an efficient day at work.  I even woke up an hour early so I could go to Starbucks and finish reading Bossypants, with a grande Pike Place.I didn't wear this yesterday, when I woke up two hours after my alarm and was late to work, with no makeup, wearing leggings as pants, and wait for it.... no coffee.
That Monday is one for the record books.
P.S. for those wondering my Monday did get better after buying new yoga pants at Target and eating the mess of out a #4 at Chik-fil-A.

Skirt refashioned from this dress: I wore HERE but permanently refashioned it last night so it is a skirt forever.

I really loved this outfit today. But, I think it was the good hair day that was the cherry on top.

MY! This week has flown by, it's already Thursday, chickens.  I mentioned on Twitter that I am seriously considering a FULL MONTH (October) of a SHOPPING BAN for myself.  Anyone want to be my sponsor?  I probably won't wake you up from sleep with urgent calls for the TJ Maxx clearance section.... Probably.

The thing is... I just need to take it easy because I don't think I really NEED any more clothes right now.

I am going to focus on refashioning items I already have for the upcoming season--like this dress!

  Easier said than done, howevs.

The one exception to said ban would be anything Halloween costume related... that's gotta happen.

I love Halloween, but I hate pumpkin pie.

Waking up late + no coffee + not being able to decide what to wear + wreck on the interstate + gas light on (!!!!) + detour confusion + rainy afternoon threat = my morning.
All in all, I came out unscathed.  Thankfully.I got ready super fast, threw on the comfiest outfit at my fingertips and hit the road.Keeping it casual and simple, fo sho.  This transitional weather is irking me! I want to layer and wear my fall clothes and shoes, but by the afternoon we are still fast approaching 90 degrees.  Silly weather.
I would be completely happy with today if it weren't for the lack of coffee.

Professional Wear

Not in the lawyer, doctor, etc sort of way.  No, I have become a professional (or as I call it: being pro-fresh) in making my clothes work harder.  I don't own many non-denim pants.  I don't own many skirts.  But I do rock dresses and shirts, so I have gotten in to faking (and loving) wearing shirts over my dresses to give the appearance of an unlimited wardrobe.
