Spiked Hot Chocolate

Well, hello there.  It's Monday again, after my accidental and unintentional week off from blogging!
I spent all free moments last week decorating and finishing the last few details before my holiday party (spending most time in yoga pants and tennis shoes!)  If it weren't for an unexpected downpour, we were going to have a roaring bonfire on Saturday, complete with best friends & spiked hot chocolate.  But, no worries, our fireplace worked just as well.  And the delicious hot chocolate kept us just as warm.  I have a few suggestions along those lines.  These different liquors were a hit!
There are tons of options when it comes to spiked hot cocoa, but here are some of my favorites.
I suggest you try them all, but if one drink is in your budget, do it my way.
Swiss Miss, made with milk, add Smirnoff Caramel vodka, top with whipped cream, marshmallows, and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Your body will be warmed and your heart shall be merry!

Wishful Wednesday

I want to wear the dress with the earrings while twirling around at a party drinking the gin fizz whilst looking at the beautiful garland & majestic bull head.
Duh.

Birthday Weekend!

Yes, indeed, my little chickens! The merrymaker turns 25 years of age this weekend.
Sunday, to be exact.
// Cue Dies Irae \\
Here's a quick throwback to the last monumental four birthdays of my twenties.

A quarter of a century of laughter, friends, family, and fun.  Four (legal) years of margarita consumption and over a million karaoke songs under my belt.  Sure... not all of 20's life goals have been crossed off my inner to-do list, but I have had way more fun than I deserve.  The past year had brought on a mountain-load of hard times and losses, but every day was made easier by the amazing support system I have in my life.  So, have a margarita in my honor this weekend and turn up some country music really loud... call a friend and tell them you love them. And hey, I think we can all agree that a new driver's license picture was the best birthday gift I could possibly receive.

Bachelorettes & Blind Bears

Well, I am barely recovered from the last three days!  My weekend took off early on Friday with my sister's bachelorette party (the wedding is in 12 days!!!!) and we had such a blast.
I planned the whole she-bang and I was super thrilled that it went so well!
We had a Great Gatsby theme where everyone dressed up and it was so fabulous.
The night started with a wine tasting led by one of my friends, followed by a lingerie shower, then to a fabulous restaurant in Memphis called the Majestic Grille.  Then we rented the room behind the bar at the Bind Bear, our local speakeasy, for cocktails and dancing.  If you're not familiar, it is a room with a two way mirror behind the bar so you can see everything that is going on in the bar from your own private room! SO FUN!

Cheers! I hope you had great weekends of your own, little chickens!
See you soon :)

Beale Street Music Fest 2013

Hellloooo and welcome to the post about one of my favorite weekends ever in this lovely little town of Memphis, TN. The first weekend in May starts the fun (and usually the rain showers) and you can expect some fun and big name bands to show up. Be prepared for iPhone pics because who wants to keep up with a camera when you may fall in the mud at any given moment? Precisely.

Usually it is super hot and sticky and gross, but this year the rain brought cooler temps and a constant threat of rain. It never really showered on us until Sunday night which is a blessing. My bright orange rain coat was my trusty accessory.

Friday night I saw Sheryl Crow (below) and Bass Nectar (not pictured.)

Saturday was THE BLACK KEYS! Such an amazing show and it is one I will remember for a looooong time.

Oh, and Dwight Yoakam was life changing and super fun.

Sunday was the day I was most looking forward to because The Black Crowes were coming back! I've seen them twice before and I just love those boys!!! Definitely my favorite part of the entire weekend.

Okay, I lied. My favorite part was having my friend Alli in town from Atlanta.

Goggles just in case the stage flooded.

And meeting Billy Joel*.

A good time was had by all. Definitely come see Memphis in the month of May and there is so much in store for you.

\\ *disclaimer: not actually Billy Joel //

Hide and Seek

Oh, here I am! If you were looking for me last week you'll notice from my absence that it took me nearly a clear week to recover from Beale Street Music Fest 2013. The bands, the beverages, the fun with my friends in the muck and the mud.... Exhausting. I can't wait to post super belated posts!

Photo cred here, from Memphis Magazine. Fun article.

I just wanted to get a shoutout in for my Memphis Grizzlies! Way back at the beginning of May, I mentioned we were kicking arse in the playoffs and we are still hanging in there!

Be sure you are following my merrymaking on Instagram for up to the minute shenanigans. I hope to get a post and a beauty giveaway up before the week is out! Exxxciting!!!

My little chickens, have the best day everrrrr.

Merry Mondays

The amount of selfies (hate the word, love the action) that I took this weekend should be illegal. But, I think it's okay to do it when you get new hair or new shoes, or whatever. Right!? Also, if you can't take them at Target... WHEN CAN YOU?
Daiquiris and watching the Memphis Grizzlies game downtown was so fun! Great crowd and fun surprise parades.
Memphis the musical was such a ball! We dressed up and had dinner at Bluefin on S. Main downtown then walked to the Orpheum. I am thrilled I got to see the show this time. I go back in a few weeks to see Rock of Ages.
Is it still a selfie if you include someone?!
Instagram overload at the Southern Hot Wing Festival along the banks of the Mississippi river! The weather is perfecto here right now so for once its not miserable to be outside enjoying adult beverages and good friends.

So I'm beginning this Monday even more exhausted than I was on Friday, but it was totally worth it. Four day week for me... Here we go!

Monday Misery

Happy Monday! But is it really? I'm kind of a grump this morning. I don't have any outfits or posts prepared. Mostly, it's because the weekend flew by so fast. I tried holding on to it, pouting really hard... Laying on the guilt trip, stomping my feet, slamming the door. But nothing worked. Time kept moving, my Sunday stolen from me by the careless manicurist who almost made me cry from frustration. Yeah, I know. #dramaqueen #dontevengetmestarted
I mean, I did have a lovely Saturday with some of my nearest and dearest. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I did :) we went to the Overton Square Crawfish Fest in midtown Memphis! No one even mentioned getting crawfish to eat, which didn't occur to me later, but we did drink a lot of locally brewed beers and we enjoyed the super sunny day!

In other news, I missed out in buying these shorts before they went out of stock. Bummer beyond all bummers, there. ASOS tweeted me back in mymoment f frustration to reassure me they maaaaaay pop back up, if the summer shorts God is willing.
My baby sister did pick out a wedding dress over the weekend, oh and also sprung the news that they are tying the knot in two months. FROM TODAY! Now, she didn't buy this one pictured, although she would have had to take out a loan. She did find the right one, and the day will be perfect.
So that just about catches you up, and in true blogging form, I feel a little bit better after venting slightly and resharing my Instagram pics.
Oh, here's the cutest dog ever so excited about a car ride.
I hope all of the little chickens in the world have the best Monday. I am going to make today my bitch. Ka-POO-ya!
