Three Years

leggings: c/o dots // boots: ugg australia // scarf & tunic: target //
denim jacket: jc penney (similar, on sale)

Grabbing that denim jacket out of the back of the closet again!  Truthfully, it is normally a last resort, a not too cold day option last seen here, but I need to reach for it more.  I love the cropped style, but I really do wish that it was a darker wash.  Maybe one of these days I will throw it in the washer with a RIT denim kit and try to get a more indigo denim look.
That's a big maybe.

I realized the other day (11-17-13) that I have been blogging at the lovely Matters of Merrymaking for THREE merry years! It is pretty much beyond embarrassing to read some of my first posts (Save yourself the headache and take my word for it.)  Not to say that I am nearing perfection (sheesh!) in any manner, but I definitely think I found my rhythm by the second year.  I love blogging for that reason! I have this great little documentation of my growth as a person, in so many ways.  2013 has by far been the most challenging.  But, let's not get in to the end of the year reflection posts yet, we have to get through next week first.  Pass the egg nog & holler back.

**This is kind of a lackluster blogiversary post, which is okay because its silly to celebrate yourself writing about yourself, right? WRONG! Keep your eyes peeled for an exciting upcoming celebration giveaway :)

Maxi Skirts & Wildflowers

chevron maxi skirt: lane bryant \\ tank top: old navy \\ denim jacket: jc penney \\ sandals: target \\ necklace: groupdealz \\ purse: tj maxx \\ sunglasses: michael kors

I hope the skirt pattern doesn't give you vertigo, mmmmk?
It is just the perfect skirt for field frolicking and such and such.
Such a funny though hit me today, the date: April 25... made me think of this quote!!!
Not too hot, not too cold.  All you need is a light denim jacket.
For once, that is actually true in Memphis.  And I for one am not too sad that it is taking it's time to heat up!  Fingers crossed for nice weather next weekend for Beale Street Music Fest!!! :) :)
Enjoy your Thursday.  We're almost there.

Denim & Paisley

 {paisley printed dress: charter club via Gwynnie Bee | denim jacket: jc penney | boots: nine west | belt: lane bryant}

This dress is normally something I would never pick out! It's a little too preppy and the real test of that was wearing it to work and the certain people who LOVED it! It is so funny to me!  The preppy dressers totally adored the print and the cut.  I'm a paisley fan, sure, so I took a chance with it by putting it in my closet on Gwynnie Bee.  I loved wearing it with the boots and the denim jacket, and it was fun playing prep for a day! Now, I won't define my every day style in to one certain genre, but I think I like my preppiness to just be a dash or a sprinkle in the outfit.
Do you define your closet with one word? Or do you make up an ensemble with a dash of this and a dollop of that?  Tell me, my chickens!

Springtime, is that you?

 {chevron top & denim jacket: JC Penney | silk skirt: talbots via tj maxx | leopard flats: nine west | mint purse: target | compass necklace: gift from bbff Dani}

See that sunshine? It came after 2 days of freezing weather and snow flurries.  It was a welcome sight. I feel that springtime is very near, thus the bare legs.  Don't let me down now, March! Okay, now it's storytime:  My whole life (okay, maybe I am slightly exaggerating...) I have yearned for a perfect denim jacket.  I loved the layering aspect, the keep ya warm-but not too warm factor, and the way that they can carry over spring items in to pre-spring time!  In case you did not know, I am 6 feet tall... and with that height comes a six foot wingspan (and great hugs).  Finding sleeves long enough were always a problem, as well as fitting my broad-ish shoulders. Also, cropped on a tall person = under the boob area. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?!  But alas, here we are.  It only took (almost) 25 years to track you down, but you are mine.  I think we will have a merry time, me and you.

Sneak peek:  I styled this ASOS animal print dress (below) THREE ways! I can't wait to share.  Hope you are having the best week ever! Spring break is so close, I can see it!
