fancy schmancy

Spring Break: Round Two.
Yep... I get two.
1. Spring break from the U of M.
2. Spring break from job at private school :)

Score!

The only downfall is the massive amount of studying and catch-up I have to do for my exams this week.
Boo.
My pics are pretty cool today however, live from the roof of the Memphis International Airport parking garage.  Take that, sister!

I'm ready to break out my spring/summer dresses already. Hence, the brown maxi featured.
What I'm Wearing: dress: TJ MAXX, belt: TORRID, cardi: LB, scarf: SISTER'S {from Indonesia}, shades: BETSEY JOHNSON, shoes: TARGET

hairstyle: CUP OF JO
this is my first hair tutorial that i have attempted.
i really liked the product, and i got a lot of compliments.
Pretty fab.

Over the weekend, I stretched my boundaries of creativity and went fancy with my nails.
Taking a few tips from my super savvy blog buddy at [oomph]!
It's kinda Barbie-esque, it grew on me really fast.
LOVE it!

Fancy nails + fancy hair-- I'm on a roll.
Have a beautiful Monday!
I'll be sleeping in til noon and making macaroni and cheese :)

tuesday's gone with the wind

Happy post-Valentine day to everyone!
I thought it would be me + the dog with some vino.
But it turns out my little kiddies at work think I'm pretty sweet:
Not to mention the note left on my car by darling Sister #1.
Thanks, chickens.

Sister #2 and I had a lot of fun with a lovely photo shoot yesterday afternoon.  The weather was so perfect + we had such a good time.

Isn't she a doll? Yep.

This merrymaker is feeling a little random this morning, overload on caffeine perhaps?

And getting antsy to finish exams + get started on some DIY projects this week, like these precious coasters seen here on Linley's blog, Dwelling & Telling.

Hitting up the craft stores this afternoon!
Also- send me positive thoughts for my bookshelf/dresser repainting!

I hope to post outfit pictures every other day, as I have time.  I appreciate the comments + positive reviews on the recent ones :)  I love reading other style blogs + seeing their outfits.  It is so inspiring for when I open my closet door.  I am working on my discipline!

INSPIRATION for TODAY
We are halfway through February, chin up, my chickens, spring is almost here.
Happy Tuesday from me + mine ---> you + yours.

feminine florals + valentine cheer

via etsy
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweetheart!
It is such a beautiful and sunshine-y day here, so I chose this day to whip out some surprises.
I have never worn this top before.  I bought it on clearance and it's two sizes too big.  This can be cured by belting, everywhere but the neckline- which is gaping + troublesome.
BUT the day felt right for florals, so here we go:

shirt: target, blazer: thrifted, belt: dots, jeans: ny+c, necklace: c/o sister #2, shoes: jessica simpson

My day will consist of nothing special.  Working + then studying for three daunting exams tomorrow.
Oh, yeah, and some chocolate.

Excuse the creepy smile in the picture- Catching a Bekah laugh in photograph form is win or lose.
Lose.
Happy Valentine's day from me + my valentine (pictured below)!
XOXO

history buff

As I sat at my computer, I realized that I had every intention of getting started on my World War II paper like thirty minutes ago.
Instead, I watched a messy bun tutorial (mastered it), sent sister #2 an email about said tutorial,
+ caught up on some of my new favorite blogs.
Senior Year (round 2) is going to be the death of me.

So, here is some more procrastination.
(does it count if the distraction is topic related?)
thought so.

Traveling was never so stylish.
The coat is perfect.

The past holds so many treasures.
Now, maybe I'll be inspired to write this paper.
Maybe.

weekend wonders

So I feel like a complete slacker with no post the last few days, just been overwhelmed with school/work/sleep.
I am officially rejuvenated and happy to share some merrymaking.

We are hosting a pre-Mardi Gras party tonight, as I am not going to NOLA this year.
 (sadface)
I am totally excited to reveal the merriment on Monday.

But here is some fresh Saturday lovin' for ya'll.

How adorable is this necklace?  A colorful statement piece to complement any outfit.
I choose the white one, love love love.

I keep obsessing over these lacquered trays, seen here at Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Every girl needs a set of perfect vintage hair pins to come to the rescue on an imperfect hair day.

Love how these boots are organized in the closet.
Aaaaaand just plain envious of the whole closet below.

Have a good remainder of the weekend.
Here's a sneak peak of someone who is really looking forward to celebrating Fat Tuesday.

Oh, and I have 20 followers now.  This makes me so happy! Thanks to everyone who follows and reads and comments, it means SO much to me.  Cheers!

elevator buttons & morning air

Some days you just want to embrace being a girl.  Here are some of my favorite girly things.

I will never turn down a big headband.  Or anything with a bow on it.
big bow headband
Taylor Swift is my favorite go-to girly iPod playlist.
And her fashion sense is the epitome of girly chic.

Tiffany blue is one of the most recognizable colors for women everywhere.
Now, in a convenient nail polish!
Tiffany blue and Robin's egg blue nail polish
Steve Madden Intyce riding boots let you rock any outfit, however girly.

Elephant teapot!  It is so cute and even if I never used it for tea, it's just darlin'.

Channel Black Swan or just a fairytale princess with this Sarah Seven dress.  The tulle skirt and sweetheart neckline work together in harmony to create the most girly dress EVER!

Have a great Tuesday and remember it's always fun to embrace your inner girlie girl.
