bows + blazers

{shoes: payless, jeans: ross, bow top:LB, blazer: old navy, necklace:stella wishes}
Sequin bows and stripes make the heart happy!  Also, this t-shirt blazer from Old Navy is totally going with everything I own this fall... it may go down in history as the greatest clearance purchase ever.
I love my new red wedges, that much is true.
I wish they were more comfortable!  It'll be worth the purchase of a shoe insert.
I wore this last night when I hosted a Silpada jewelry party with my sisters... slash I had to change before the party because I didn't think I would make such a mess while preparing food! So I actually changed and wore this top.  Oh well, still love my red shoes.

I have some musical wisdom to share.  If you are searching for the most epic Pandora station- without a doubt it is the Rufus Wainwright station.  We played it throughout the party and I was thrilled with every single song.  And that's a rarity.

Hope you guys are having a glorious hump day.

saints + snuggies

A OOTD post, different than any other one...
A Sunday post, better late than never.
This weekend barely counts as one.
The only fun thing I did was was wear a blanket with sleeves to downtown Beale Street on a pub crawl with a bunch of strangers.  HA! That's right, I went on a Snuggie Pub Crawl! It was a lot of fun!!!! I was hesitant at first, but I got to meet some awesome people and go to some bars I had never been to!
{saints snuggie: walgreens, belt: torrid, headband: anthro}

At every bar they had different letters and numbers for Bingo and I WON!
I got a gift card to use at almost any downtown restaurant.... preeetty neato!
I bet we looked really funny to the many tourists that stopped us, and asked us WHY we were wearing blankets... but if you ever have a chance to participate in a snuggie pub crawl, you should definitely go!
Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend!
I'm off to drink tea & watch the TV and movies I have awaiting me on the DVR!
See ya'll tomorrow!

200th post + the grocery store

{dress: c/o eShakti, belt/necklace: dots, wedges: payless, cardi: LB, clutch: thrifted}

Welcome to the 200th post of Matters of Merrymaking!
Can you believe it?  It seems like just yesterday that this little blog was taking off with little direction and no-how.  Almost a year ago! It's been the biggest year of my life so far in many ways, and I just wanna thank all of my blog loves that have had such an influence on me.

Moving on!  Last night, my sisters, my mom, (and Kelsey, muwah) went to the Dixon Art Gallery for a Sparkling Evening at the Dixon.  Charlotte is one of our favorite fine jewlery stores here in Memphis, and it was such a fun event.  We got to taste different champagnes and wines, paired with CHOCOLATE by Chocistry!
I mean, could you imagine anything more divine??
There was chocolate made with sweet potato, bacon and pepper, and cherry blossom.  A kick in the taste buds, for sure.

I was so excited to debut my new suede red pumps, and got lots of compliments on them.
We all know how I feel about wine and art... the most perfect evening :)

Thanks for coming by for the 200th post and stuff.
You rock, little chickens.

And if you are a huge fan of my grocery store pics, it's because the gal helped me conquer my fear of public fashion photography! That's my sister, E, she took my pictures AND picked out the perfect tomatoes in the aisles of Kroger.  Flawlessly, might I add.

bright mornings + tights, tights, tights

{nine west boots, thrifted dress, we love colors tights, torrid belt, thrifted sweater,  a little bit of this necklace}

I am obsessed with these tights, and I hope to order 1400 more pairs so that winter dressing can be as much fun as it was today.  I had no idea what to wear, but throwing these tights on and building an outfit from them was the easiest way to do it!  I know I want rust and a shade of blue, but any other suggestions!?!  I took these pics before work! YAY YAY YAY! BRIGHT MORNINGS! This is so important to me because it's the most guaranteed time for me to get my pics done before I spend the day with 23 4 year olds and begin to look a hot mess! Also, I like the wooded area as my backdrop, like I am an overdressed woods(wo)men.
Ha! I hope you guys are having a great hump day!
This week I am featuring these tights (in a different outfit) for Wear it Wednesday hosted by Dresses For Dinner! Check out all of the tights for your own tights inspiration!
