Friday Favorites

one: i am so very excited for the 2nd annual FRIENDSGIVING at the house of my bffs!  all the good food, the great wine, and the best people.  the actual turkey day is normally reserved for family & food fights, so i am thrilled to kick back with my buds this weekend :)
two: my sister and i are gearing up to see catching fire this weekend, too.  apparently it is already out, but that shows you how much attention i pay to trailers... THEY GIVE THE WHOLE MOVIE AWAY!  I love my girl J-Law.
three:  like many of my fellow pinners, i am so intrigued by the idea of contouring!!! i did admit on twitter that i am slightly weary of the process, but i found this compact that has the two shades in one convenient package.  i want to get my hands on it to try it out. maybe, maybe.  do any of my little chickens contour? what are your favorite products?
four: it has been a hot minute since i updated you all on my netflix queue status... I know you guys were all waiting with bated breath to find out what show i am binging on this week.  HART OF DIXIE! i told my mom that i watched the first two episodes and that i thought she would like it... i talk back with her mere hours later to find out that girl binged half the first season.  (it runs in the fam!)  it really is super cute & i am super obsessed with jaime king.

five:  i put these ugg lynnea II on layaway at tj maxx a few weekends ago, and i am going to pick those beauties up on saturday.  they're beautiful and we are perfect for each other!

have a merry weekend, xo.

Merrymaking Lately...

When I haven't been dressing up for game days....
I mastered an ultimate Bloody Mary recipe.
I've been working and babysitting like crazy, counting down the days til spring break.
I ordered a gorilla pod so I will be back to taking OOTD pics once this rain stops.
I've been planning a weekend getaway to Nashville for the coming weekend (SO EXCITED)
Drinking tons of tea and hoping no one I know gets the flu!!! So thankful I got the shot!
Growing out my locks! It's been a long time coming and I'm getting a trim soon!
My January shopping ban is 12 days strong. Yay me!
Having movie nights with friends. Especially the canine ones.
Trying new recipes!

The questions is... What have you been doing lately, my little chickens!?

Get Lacey

 {lace dress: ross | wedges: nine west | necklace: borrowed | sunglasses: franco sarto}

I wore this to a farewell breakfast for a family that is very dear to our hearts, they are moving to Japan! We will miss them so so so much!  Then little sister and I hit up the movies so I could see Rock of Ages AGAIN! Seriously, I love it.  80s tunes and a musical?  I'm there.

^ Ain't she cute? ^

I am definitely going to miss that little guy.
The movie actually makes me like Tom Cruise, go figure...

A Whole Lotta Obsession Goin' On

{tee & necklace: target | skirt: DOTS | shoes: payless | purse: MK}

I have been pretty obsessed with the hi-low hems trend, pretty much since the second I saw it.  However, I was not going to run out and buy the first item I saw.  I shopped around, saw a lot of dresses, a few skirts... then I saw this skirt! LOVED IT!  It's definitely a statement piece, but I seriously want to wear it every single day. I wore this outfit to go see Rock of Ages and I have been playing the soundtrack continuously since then.  So yes, there is a whole lot of obsession going on in my life.
Happy Hump Day!

leopard print + scary movies

{leggings, dress, leopard top: tj maxx | boots: payless | necklace: gift | watch: michael kors}

Still waiting for that cool weather. Still dressing like it is not 89 degrees.  Ha.
I wore this for Sunday brunch and errands.  Today is actually supposed to be the start of rain and a cold front.  I know, I know you are thinking what crazy person likes the rain.  I love the rain, especially when I am inside :)

My suede boots are begging for me to wear them, let's keep our fingers crossed that they see some fresh air this week.  On a non-weather related note:  I am so stinkin' pumped for this upcoming weekend.  I have so many lovely events to look forward to!
1. Paranormal Activity 3: Watch trailer here. Yes, I am obsessed.  Yes, I love scary movies.  Yes, I have gone to the past two midnight showings (PA1 and PA2). I won't be able to do the whole midnight thing Thursday (hello, teacher!!??) BUT I will be seeing the first showing I can on Friday.  I don't care if they never stop making sequels/prequels.  I can't get enough.
2. Haunted Corn Maze:  We have a pretty nifty corn maze at the Agricenter International here in Memphis and on the weekends it is haunted.  Gotta get my scare on!  Better stick to shoes with straps!
3. LIVE MUSIC! My brother's band has a show this weekend at the Buccaneer, the first with their new lead singer.  I am very excited to spend some time with some good people!
4. River Arts Fest: This year I am volunteering at this festival!  I am very excited because it is in my favorite part of town (the Historic South Main Arts District) and I will be vending beer and wine! Follow my tweets to find out what location I am at and come see me!

Just wanted to share a little bit of my exciting life.
There's plenty of non-exciting things going on too, but that's yucky.

CUT LOOSE!

{dress+tights: TJ Maxx | shoes: payless | scarf: handmade by me, with flower | coffee: muddys bake shop}

Hiya chickens.  It's been a long week- I am not gonna lie I have been sticking to the comfort items in my le closet.
Blue dress, tribal scarf, orange flower.  Love my color wheel, you know that.
Happy weekend, we made it. This girl BIG plans this weekend!
FOOTLOOSE comes out, so excited about this film.  If you didn't know the director, Craig Brewer is a local Memphian (also directed Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan).  He's awesome, dancing is awesome, I CAN'T WAIT!
(cut loose! foot loose!)
Also, celebrating a friend's birthday at one of my fave gastropubs + planning on painting the town all kinds shade of red and I will be kicking off my Sunday shoes.

Hope you made it through your week! Relax and enjoy some merriment.
XO.

Rom-Com Revelations

via
Lately, when I think about the whole (super amazing) blogging community I have become a part of, I can't help but to quote Never Been Kissed in my head.
You know what part, don't you?

No, it's not about Josie Grossie, although...
somedays it sure feels like it when I first wake up.
We do have similar style.

via

Anyway...
I always think about the part where Rob
(David Arquette, when he was classy, sigh.)
tells Josie that:
"All you need is for one person to think you're cool,
and you're in."

via

It just occurs to me sometimes, that the style blogging community is like that.
Like high school. Well not like my high school, thank god.
For example: if a huge blogger, the "Kirstens, Kristens, and Gibby's"
You know, the ones with the massive following,
free clothes, tons of sponsors, expensive cameras and editing equipment.**
One day they send you a shout out on their blog, twitter, guest post, etc:
Her dedicated followers will follow suit and check you out, more than likely love you (for good reasons, no doubt.) and then you're a part of the club, sistah!
Word of mouth, or literally just word, and you could be taken from a couple hundred followers to pushing close to a thousand in a few weeks.  It could intensely change your focus.
-A couple blogs have been writing on a similar subject lately, about how they've quit fashion bloggers
or only keep reading ones that they can find some heart in... I can't imagine some one thinking harshly on the people I look up to, that inspire me.  I find happiness in my day to day blog adventures and relationships, but I'd be kidding if I didn't find allure in the shiny possibilites of blog growth.

Where is David Arquette when I need him?

But, it's NOT about the numbers, it's about the content, right?
I mean... that's what they say.
SURVEY SAYS:
They're right!

Be the true representation of yourself,
and the hot guys readers will come.
My experience, short as it may be, is way more enjoyable than high school.  I love building my relationships daily with the women who have been with me since the beginning
AND the lovely ladies whom have just come aboard the merrymaking train.
You guys are great, glad you're here.
Perhaps the best lesson we can learn from 'Never Been Kissed' is:

"Find out who you are

and try not to be afraid

of it."

-Josie Gellar

Can I get an AMEN?
At the end of the day, I will continue to measure my blog's worth in the value I find in it, the lessons I have learned from it, and continue believing that I am worth my weight in sparkles.
Thank you.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

**No disrespect to ANY wonderful, talented females.
I love them and read their words/drink in their style daily.
I think that they rock.
