Merry Mondays

The amount of selfies (hate the word, love the action) that I took this weekend should be illegal. But, I think it's okay to do it when you get new hair or new shoes, or whatever. Right!? Also, if you can't take them at Target... WHEN CAN YOU?

Daiquiris and watching the Memphis Grizzlies game downtown was so fun! Great crowd and fun surprise parades.

Memphis the musical was such a ball! We dressed up and had dinner at Bluefin on S. Main downtown then walked to the Orpheum. I am thrilled I got to see the show this time. I go back in a few weeks to see Rock of Ages.

Instagram overload at the Southern Hot Wing Festival along the banks of the Mississippi river! The weather is perfecto here right now so for once its not miserable to be outside enjoying adult beverages and good friends.

So I'm beginning this Monday even more exhausted than I was on Friday, but it was totally worth it. Four day week for me... Here we go!

Monday Misery

Happy Monday! But is it really? I'm kind of a grump this morning. I don't have any outfits or posts prepared. Mostly, it's because the weekend flew by so fast. I tried holding on to it, pouting really hard... Laying on the guilt trip, stomping my feet, slamming the door. But nothing worked. Time kept moving, my Sunday stolen from me by the careless manicurist who almost made me cry from frustration. Yeah, I know. #dramaqueen #dontevengetmestarted

I mean, I did have a lovely Saturday with some of my nearest and dearest. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I did :) we went to the Overton Square Crawfish Fest in midtown Memphis! No one even mentioned getting crawfish to eat, which didn't occur to me later, but we did drink a lot of locally brewed beers and we enjoyed the super sunny day!

In other news, I missed out in buying these shorts before they went out of stock. Bummer beyond all bummers, there. ASOS tweeted me back in mymoment f frustration to reassure me they maaaaaay pop back up, if the summer shorts God is willing.

My baby sister did pick out a wedding dress over the weekend, oh and also sprung the news that they are tying the knot in two months. FROM TODAY! Now, she didn't buy this one pictured, although she would have had to take out a loan. She did find the right one, and the day will be perfect.

So that just about catches you up, and in true blogging form, I feel a little bit better after venting slightly and resharing my Instagram pics.

Oh, here's the cutest dog ever so excited about a car ride.

I hope all of the little chickens in the world have the best Monday. I am going to make today my bitch. Ka-POO-ya!

Over the weekend, one of my dreams came true when I went to see Sir Elton John live in concert on Saturday. We had pretty amazing seats behind the stage backstage :) ! If there was ever an occasion for a tutu, this would be it (this was actually my New Year's Dress that never got photographed!)  We walked to Beale Street before the concert for a bite to eat, amid a ton of pre-St. Patrick's Day revelers.  The evening was a true merrymaking success when as a finale Elton and I sang a duet to "Your Song".  Fun was had by all. Side note: the title of this post is one of my favorite Elton songs, which he did not play.  I will forgive him because he provided a nonstop dance party for 2.5 hours.

a tad tribal, a bit bright

It's no secret that I am a super fan of tribal print, but when it comes accompanied by bright colors... I couldn't run to the cash register fast enough.  It was the perfect festive outfit for a SURPRISE party for one of my closest friends on the lake.  Bonfires, best friends, boat docks, oh... and a live band?  Ya just can't beat it!  Hope you had the best birthday, T! 

What about all of my little chickens?  Best weekend ever, I hope!  Don't spill any good gossip because I have not seen The Walking Dead, Downton Abbey, or any of my Sunday night shows!  I did catch some of the Grammys and basically I love Mumford & Sons and I am so glad they won, I hated Adele's dress, Katy Perry had too much boobage, & Beyonce looked great!  JT is back and the good news is: he still has his sexy!  Best dressed, in my opinon, goes to Rihanna (which I never thought I would say)... She's FAB!

little tiny baby chickens!

Have we recovered from the major Super Bowl extravaganza? Honestly, I was in to it for the first half. REALLY in to it for my lady Beyonce... But they lost me with the power outage and the 8pm start of Downton Abbey! But hey, this merrymaker wouldn't turn down a pitcher of Bloody Marys and a buffet of party food for the world!

On Saturday, a big group of my friends and I went downtown to get food and have a night out! It was so much fun catching up with friends and trying a new restaurant! And then you add in the daiquiri bar and naturally the night ended at a disco. Lets just say I definitely paid for it all day Sunday!

Super Bowl Sunday- my brother and sister in law hosted a magnificent party where I feasted and safely enjoyed my distiller water and ginger ale. Daiquiris are dangerous and delicious things.

I played it safe and just wore Beyonce colors: in my opinion she was the MVP!

My sister and I are trying to cook more, so once a week we are getting together and trying new recipes and making them healthy options. She made blackened chicken and cilantro lime quinoa! It was the est thing everrrrr. Ever. Ever. 

Also: February is one of my favorite months because of heart shaped foods. I'm a fan :)

I hope my friends all had weekends worth remembering!! Also I'm wishing this Monday would just end. See ya Tuesday for round THREE of the On Your Mark! beauty feature.

Music City Merrymaking

It feels so good to be home!  A weekend trip can really take it out of you! But as I sit here typing, with my trusty black canine at my feet and a cup of tea by my side, I am thankful I got to have a wonderful weekend with my gals!  We left early Friday to drive the three-ish hours to Nashville, TN where our group of two grew to a trio, and then a gaggle of five when the Huntsville, AL girls rolled in. It was so fun to play in the city and try new restuarants with fun atmoshperes! I won't write any reviews here, but if you find yourself in the country music capital, do yourself a favor and find The Patterson House and get a bushwhaker at Broadway Brewhouse.

Country music fan or not, it was fun to listen to live music in a great city!  I've officially brought merrymaking to the honky tonks in town.  Best part of the weekend? Having tomorrow off work! Did you have a merry weekend?!  What city should we visit on our next weekend getaway?
