HAPPY HALLOWEEN :)

That sign is my ABSOLUTE favorite. Totally encompasses my love of the holiday.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
my little chickens.
I hope you have the spookiest, most enjoyable 31st ever.
I won't be doing anything too crazy today, as I celebrated this past weekend.
We watched our favorite ghost shows (ghost adventures, anyone?), went to see our favorite cover band (SNOZberry) at a haunted (?) old brothel-turned-restaurant (earnestine and hazel's) in downtown Memphis, and had a great time in our costumes (i was a flapper, obvi)!
It was definitely the most fun halloween I have had in a few years
aaaaaaaaaand:
NO INJURIES!
woohoo.
My BFF Carli and me before the show.
ON ME: dress: ASOS | shoes: nine west | fishnets: party city | headband, necklaces, boa: borrowed}
Laura, my sister-in-law, Carli and me

 George Michael and me, obviously.

Did you all have the most amazing Halloween everrrr?!
Hope so.
Enjoy tonight and if you are going trick or treating, y'all be careful :)
oh, and save me the reese's pumpkins- they're my favorite.

before/after

My 90s era sibling picture was so popular with my family yesterday, that we felt the need to reenact last night.
Naturally, I think we all look better. And for the record, it's not a bowl cut.
It is a wedge and it was all the rage.

the color pink + big birthdays

{pants, cardi: LB | white shirt: vintage | shoes: payless | necklace: dots}

It is still SO dark at 7am nowadays.  Like it looks like straight up nighttime.
Today was pink day at the school where I teach.  I discovered I don't own pink.
Also, I tend to buy prints WAY more than solid colors.
These are the things you learn when scouring your closet for a certain color.
Moving on...
Today is an important day!
My big brother, Brandon, is 28 today!
Tonight we are going to our new fave restaurant, Mary's German Restaurant, to celebrate!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRANDON!
1994-5ish, Weren't we stylish folks? We rocked matching windsuits.  Often.

January 2011, my brother's wedding. Love my sibs! :)
Have a wonderful Thursday, we are almost there!

crazy prints + peppermint coffee

{cardi: old navy | pants, top: LB | scarf: gift | shoes: payless}

The day I wore this outfit, Tuesday, I woke up, made my bed, got ready, left the house, filled my car up with gas, went in to starbucks and got my peppermint pike place, and took these pictures across the street.
ALL BEFORE 7:15 AM.
This morning was a seemingly unimaginable feat to me, on a normal morning. and I actually impressed myself. Not to mention, I never make my bed.

This outfit was an accident, made in record time, and I ended up really liking it.
This is my Ke$ha shirt, made dress code appropriate, and a little scarf to jazz it up.
A pretty outfit and a more than successful morning = a pretty great day!
Lots of love, The Merrymaker.

fall flannel + halloween injuries

{jeans: ross | flannel shirt: vintage, dads | boots: payless | sunglasses: kate spade | bracelets: random}

Fall is definitely in the air!  We had lovely weather this past weekend, along with some scary movies and haunted corn mazes.  I swear I am still apologizing for my shrieks and terror-induced hand squeezing injuries to my friends.  It was a ton of fun... especially after it was over :)

It's almost Halloweeeeeen!
What are you guys going to be?? SPILL!
I am going to be a flapper, all with materials I already own and/or borrowing.
Except for shoes, I am having the most difficult time finding flapper shoes.
But, you have to understand something about me....
 the past one two halloweens have ended up with me SERIOUSLY injured.
maybe one day, I will tell you the stories... but I need low low heels or flats for my flapper costume.
holler if you come across some.
i wear a size HUGE.
xoxo

Take Four: Chunky Sweaters/Cardigan

My favorite thing about my (almost 1 year old!!!) blog is joining the fabulous fashion/style blogging community.  I have made tons and tons of blogging relationships with other bloggers across the country, even across the planet.  I love developing these friendships and finding even more similarities with these wonderful women.  Enter... Take Four.

Meet Bekah, Gracey, Karla, and Kelsey, the ladies of Take Four. Take Four is an opportunity for four friends, who met by chance through blogging, to get together and support each other in a collaborative blogging project. The idea is simple: once or twice a month, we will post four unique interpretations of a selected trend. In each post, we will provide links to each other’s blogs, ensuring that you, our readers, can find a look and style that suits you, your closet, and your budget.

My favorite part of this group is that we all hail from different parts of the country.
I love getting different regional ideas!
This time we chose to style our favorite chunky sweaters/cardigans.
I chose my FAVOOORITE 'grandpa' sweater that I thrifted last season.

{venezia dress, liz claiborne sweater: thrifted | tights: tjmaxx | boots: ninewest | belt: torrid | necklace: gift | glasses: kate spade}

Check out the Take Four posts from the other lovelies.
Karla from Frugal Big Girl
Gracey from Fashion for Giants
Kelsey from Charming Pumpkin
and obviously, I am BEKAH :)
:)
And to everyone visiting from the other blogs, welcome!
Enjoy Take Four, my little chickens.

bright sun + most terrifying movies

{dress: Michael Kors | olive green blazer: old navy | flower: handmade | shoes: payless }

Are you so happy that it's FRIDAY!? I am.  Have a great weekend now, my little chickens.

And in case you're not in the Halloween spirit yet....
This list was inspired by my IRL friend, Faye @ Faye's Book, she admits to not seeing many scary movies in her life.  I am proud to boast the opposite, I would much rather see a horror, suspense, thriller than your romantic comedy.  Faye wrote a post listing MSN's top 50 most terrifying films.  She had seen seven. I have seen a couple more than her (twanky-one to be exact). To be fair, I HAVE seen many of the remakes of these movies... just not the originals.  I put the ones I have seen in bold.  If these really are considered super terrifying I know what I am adding to my Netflix queue!

autumn stripes + new necklace

{pants: gap | top: LB | vest: rainbow | socks: target | boots: nine west | trench: LB | bib necklace: a little bit of this}

Good morning and welcome to a special live edition of Matters of Merrymaking.
Live as in I am wearing this RIGHT now. Crazy, huh?
I was on the ball this morning, mostly because I got this amazing necklace in the mail yesterday and could not wait to share it.  My lovely friend Kimberley over at A Little Bit Of This crafted this necklace (check out her etsy store, it's TO DIE!) for me and did a little sneaky action and sent it to me.
What a doll, I love it!

My eyeballs were cold this morning because it feels like Christmas outside.  I.  Love.  It.
Now, not to focus anymore on weather... It's almost Friday!!!!!!!
Doing my little almost-Friday dance right now...
Have a good one, little chickens.

OH! And if you missed my Fall Must-Haves post tomorrow-- CHECK IT OUT!

HAPPY HUMP DAY!
It rainy, it's cold.  Besides the frizzy hair, I am content :)

Shopping Ban update:
-I have a folder on my desktop labeled "What To Buy In November."
-I am still spending money on going out to eat... I think next month should be no dining out month.
-Yesterday, I went thrifting.  On accident.  I never mentioned it in my previous post on my shopping ban, but I think thrifting can be forgiven.  I didn't go crazy with my purchases, just two items necessary for winter!
