seven things.

Here are some items I am loving at the moment.

1. Gun-metal grays

I am in love with the Black Pearl shade from Chanel.  Gun metal grays are going to be huge this spring.

2. Bud vases

I got these bud vases from Target, and put some white roses in them to brighten up the room.

3. Rock Lamp

At the West Elm Outlet, I found this BEAUTIFUL lamp for 1/3 the original price.

4. Pier One Dishes

I got these dishes from Pier One on clearance and they're perfect to hold some of my favorite jewelry.

5. YSL Parisienne Parfum

I got this perfume for Christmas and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

6. Vegetable bean spinach soup

I'm adding spinach to everything these days.  Give it a try, so delicious (& nutritious).

7.  Musings Journal

This journal is so cute.  It is from Davis Kidd and reminded me of my friend, Jessica.

I hope you liked checking out my favorite things.
Have a good Monday and be sure to appreciate the little things in life.

midtown adventures

Saturday was such a beautiful day that we (sister #1, sister #2, and myself) had to get out and get our Vitamin D, so we took the opportunity to get our adventure on!
We did not plan to both wear stripes, we just have a blood connection.
We went to Minglewood Hall's Revive Energy Bar for breakfast.
They have a cereal bar, where you mix and match/add toppings, and choose your milk of preference and then VOILA!
Yes, that is Honeycomb, Cookie Crsip, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
(Gummi Bears not pictured)
Sister #1 loved the coffee bar.  AND made a little friend.
Sister #2 strayed away from the cereal and got a grilled cheese, with fruit.

Then after we were stuffed, did I mention it was a BOTTOMLESS cereal bar?, we went to some local antique shops in midtown, but we did not find any treasures... We were bummed but we will give it another go soon.  You should definitely give Revive a visit, they are open from 6:30am to midnight or later.  Free Wi-Fi and bottomless coffee for $5.

What did you do this weekend?

come & knock on my door.

If you are not familiar with the website Houzz.com you should definitely surf over there after reading and check out some of their goodies.  You can search all kinds of home design photos, narrowing down your search by metro area, style, or space.  I took a gander at some fabulous eclectic entryways and my imagination was thoroughly peaked.

stenciled patio door = girl's dream come true

tell me what ya want, what ya really really want...

Everyone loves some Spice Girls lyrics.
Here are some items I am lusting after, all of which would add some spice to my life.

I was gifted a knit headband like this one a couple days ago, and I am still trying to work it the right way.  However, it looks flawless on this model. Wish me luck on this experiment.

Perfect Valentine's Day shoes, from Nordstrom, that would spice up your favorite LBD.

I am going to attempt to recreate this simple, yet feminine and edgy look with my own wardrobe.  I love it and it fits in nicely with my new affinity for stripes.
via
I adore and hope some day to own such a wonderfully cute and organized bookshelf.  And the white deer head is a contemporary addition I enjoy.

Kate Spade iPhone 4 case, stylish yet sleek.  Nice work, Kate.

Oh, and I am going to have to try this cocktail soon, doesn't it look delish?

1 1/2 Absolut Vanilla
1/2 oz. strawberry liqueur
Splash CranPineapple juice
Combine & top with champagne

Cheers, its almost Friday.

looks inspired by: Cassie from Skins: UK

As you may or may not know,  MTV (music television, is it? ha.) has produced a complete copy-cat version of the BBC drama, Skins.  From what I hear, the American version is significantly watered down, just for FCC approval, but I am an avid fan of the UK version.
Watching the show the other day, I totally loved this outfit worn by my favorite character in Vol 1 &2, Cassie.  I applaud the prime colors and unexpected pairing of print and plaid.

Here is the version I styled, but alas, I'd prefer to thrift for a skirt like Cassie's.

Who is inspiring your looks these days?  Cheers!

you love me, you really love me!

Well, I know one fellow blogger out there does.  (Thanks, Raquel)

She has consequently nominated me for the...
(drum roll pleeeeease)

(You can should check out Raquel's blog, Coffee and Play Dates)
Wowza.  So, she has informed me that the stipulations are that I have to fill out seven random facts about myself and then pass on the coveted award to another deserving blogger.

So here goes...

1.  I have always love love loved shoes, even though this girl has a big ole foot.

2.  I am allergic to mosquito bites, apples, and cats.

3.  When my fellow elementary school classmates were watching Barney and Bill Nye, I was watching Aerosmith music videos and dancing to Dirty Dancing.  It explains a lot.

4.  I used to have an unhealthy obsession with Jimmy Fallon, circa SNL.  But he's too mainstream now.

5.  My favorite city in the United States (that I have traveled to) is NEW ORLEANS, LA.

6.  Country songs make me cry.  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

7.  I've worked with preschool children for the past seven (wow) years, but I don't want to be a teacher.

Oh wow, I thought I would be much more entertaining that that, but I'll stop talking about me and let you guys in on who I nominate for the award.  The following women are my friends and fellow bloggers, and I hope they appreciate the prestigious award as much as I did.  -B

- Jessica at Mental Meanderings
(even though her blog doesn't focus on style specifically, you should see this girl's closet)

(A fellow fashion enthusiast)

Lastly, Jill at JillGG's Good Life (For Less), my blog idol.

Stay tuned for more fashion related, shameless shopping wish lists and more!
Thanks to all my new followers!
Cheers!

happy 3rd birthday ozzy!

yes, i am the kind of girl who throws her dog birthday parties.  But only so he can get presents and eat doggie cake and see his doggie friends.

but yes i admit it was fun for me, too.

I made this dog cake from scratch, made of ingredients safe for dogs, and it was a total hit.

cup white or whole wheat flour
tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C), Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a ring mold sprayed with a nonstick spray for 40 minutes, Frost this cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with carrot pieces. Store in refrigerator.
The birthday boy, Ozzy, and his guests enjoyed the cake VERY much.

Don't worry, the adults had their own sweets.  I made these funfetti cupcakes with paw prints to satisfy the human palates. And how much fun is my new cupcake tree?

The party wore out this guy, I think it was a hit!

I highly recommend trying this recipe for your the canine love of YOUR life.  You won't be disappointed.  Hope you all had a swell weekend!  Best wishes, xx B

little loves

If you know me, you know I am a sucker for some clever animal print accessories.  My love for wedges and prints has made a beautiful baby in these Louboutins.  FAB!

My baby sister just moved in to a house, where the girls are going with a mixed shabby chic and eclectic look.  This Moroccan rug would be a great addition to their adorable little blue house.

And I just cannot resist a pillow with crazy sayings on it.  This one is from etsy and tres adorable.

This dress I ordered recently and it came in just in time to wear to Ozzy's birthday party!  I'm having an affair with stripes lately, and if it's wrong... I don't want to be right.

I hope you guys have all enjoyed the snow days here in Memphis! Stay warm!
Also, if you want to check out my friend Jessica's blog, you won't be disappointed.
Cheers!
