Music Fest Merrymaking

dress: Ross ($12!!!!) // necklace: accessory auctions FB //

booties: barefoot Tess

I wore this outfit over the weekend to the annual Memphis in May Beale Street music festival. Every year, we are either battling tornados, rain storms, or a heat wave. Thankfully, this year the weather was perfect. I picked the wrong shoes to wear (as I normally do) but when I was dancing on the banks of the mighty Mississippi listening to Alabama Shakes in the 65 degree breeze... I didn't have a care in the world.

I wish Music Fest was more than just once a year.

Happy hump day!

Among The Wildflowers

maxi dress: Ross // knit top: tj maxx // belt: lane bryant // clutch: iPad case from Target // booties: barefoot tess // sunglasses: target

As a kid, my favorite colors were purple and yellow. Much like the weeds that grow all Spring long. I always call them flowers because they're so beautiful, I hate the weed connotation. Trust me, my allergies are the only reason I don't straight up frolic in the fields and Maria Von Trapp spin my heart out.

I'm pretty obsessed with how this haphazard outfit came together. We have had a "cold" front the past few days and I needed to layer up last minute. Being a tall gal, the length of this dress looks weird with flats so I threw on the black wedge booties to toughen up the look. I'm especially fond of layering over maxis here lately.

Have a merry weekend, my little chickens. It feels fabulous to be back.

Quite A Pattern

dress: rainbow // clutch: ENiT design // wedges : target (last season) // bracelets: target, accessory auctions

I wanted to name this post, The Bitch is Back, but as much as I love Elton, I was slightly afraid of the google searches I would pop up in. But the sentiment is still here! Breaking back in to the swing of things with one of the most happy patterns! One of my merrymaking secrets is that I frequent some cheeeeap fast fashion stores. Rainbow is a bit like F21, but a more urban vibe. You have to dig through some club clothes to find a gem, but they are there. And for $19.99, the search is worth it! I love the one of a kind pieces I have added to my closet from places like Rainbow.

Also, any excuse to tie in my red wedges and I will take it.

I hope May treats all of my little chickens well. Thanks for the comments and emails during my absence. It definitely boosts my merriment to know that I was missed. Spring is in full swing in Memphis, so I hope to bring you nonstop merrymaking.

Xo.

Favorite Friday Dress

Have you ever made a brand new purchase, let's say an oversize, striped t-shirt dress, and then you find such complete happiness with it that you find it almost impossible to not wear it every other day?
Yeah... me neither.

This dress sometimes gives the appearance that I cut a neck hole in a bed sheet and ran out of the house, but it feels like a huge t-shirt and I just can't find an excuse to not wear it almost every day.  I've worn it like over half the days since I bought it.  #noshame
And if you can't wear your favorite dress on a Friday, then when can you?
Have a merry weekend. XO

Wicked & Wine

dress: asos (similar) // necklace: eclectic ornaments // booties: barefoot tess // sunglasses: mossimo via target // clutch: ENIT design

On Saturday, my favorite theatre pal (resident BFF) and I headed out to see Wicked at The Orpheum.  We grabbed some pre-show local brews at South Of Beale then we were BLOWN AWAY by the show! I had seen Wicked before, but this was like the first time all over again!  I am a total theatre freak and I had to pinch myself to keep from singing along to every song.

Brace yourselves for one of the MOST exciting and fun restaurant concepts!  After the excitement, we were parched and in need of some major deliciousness.  We hit up Greencork, which is in Midtown Memphis in the Cooper Young area.  I cannot believe that I put off hitting this place up for so long!  Basically, you get a pre-paid, or personalized tab card, and you can choose from a ton of self-serve wines with different pour options.  Helloooooo!  I was smitten from the get-go, and then you add in a delicious meat and cheese plate and I was all set to move in forever.  If you're local, you have to go check it out (also, call me!)

SUCH a merry weekend!
Have the greatest week ever ever.

Leopard Shifts & Full House

dress: asos curve // tights: we love colors // booties: barefoot tess //
necklace: versona accessories // clutch: local boutique

I've never met an ASOS dress that I didn't like, but this one was love at first sight.
I am a leopard print obsessor, that's a given, but this print was different enough to be fresh and fun in another way.  I pulled it straight out of the bag & someone uttered, "Don't you already own that?"
In the famous words of little Michelle Tanner, "How rude!"
This girl might have a closet bedecked with leopard garments in a wide variety of textures and colors, but each piece is special on their own way, just trust me.
Like this red/orange with gray mix, it's fun!
This dress looks like something Bekah would wear... I like the sound of that.

Ruffles and Such

dress & cardigan: dots // boots, socks & skirt ruffles: target // necklace: accessory concierge

I have had this champagne colored ruffly skirt for a million years and it was perfect to throw under this dress to make it a little bit longer for the windy, windy day!  I actually forgot I had this skirt and now I want to wear it everyday to make my existing closet seem more boho and fun! The last picture is me failing at throwing leaves with a camera timer, don't be alarmed.

Yesterday when I wore this, it was 75 degrees and humid, I ended up rocking no sleeves in December. Now we are expected to be 19 degree with wintry precipitation tonight and tomorrow.  What's up with that?  I love a snow day as much as the next girl with spiked hot cocoa and a fur blanket,
but let's stick with the cold weather for a while.
Translation: I don't want to shave my legs again until 2014 and shut up you're the same way :)

Outfit Repeat & Broken Toes

swing dress: ASOS // tights: we love colors // necklace: baublebar // boots: lane bryant

This was my Halloween dress and I was really looking forward to re-styling it and adding new pieces to make it work year round.  My extensive collection of We Love Colors tights proved perfect with this burgundy pair, but there was only one slight problem keeping this outfit from being truly great.  My three "broken" toes on my left foot.  I use the term broken very loosely, as I am not a professional doctor.  I can speak professionally on the subject of being a very clumsy person, I have tried to break many a doorframe by walking straight into it.
Long story short, always turn on the light...
I don't love these boots with this outfit, but my poor toes were in lots of pain in just about every other pair of shoes I tried... In a perfect non-broken toe world, I would have slipped on these bad daddies I just bought. Cheers to a quick and speedy recovery for my toes and a super fun weekend wearing Ugg boots & swigging Chardonnay.  Xo

Happy Dress!

dress: american rag via macy's (here) // wedge booties: dolce vita (here) // sunglasses: cole haan // ring: gift // skull cuff bracelet: via random instagram sale :)

This dress actually screamed out loud at me at the mall.  It has everything I love about a dress.  The swing, the ruffles, sheer-ness, a unique piece with a ton of versatility = la la la happiness!  The best part is that it was on sale on top of sale on top of a 10% discount! WOOHOO!
Triple the score!  In other news, this is my first time breaking out this booties and boy do they need some breaking in.  My fourth toe on both feet didn't have the best time that day, but that is how it goes!  I'm not the only one who deals with a little bit of discomfort for the perfect rust colored bootie wedge, right? Right.  Then, it's settled.

Inopportune Inspiration

dress: asos (similar) // booties: barefoot tess // purse: target // necklace: eclectic ornaments

It often happens when I lay my head down to go to sleep at night that my mind comes alive with so many deep or humorous thoughts that would inspire the most amazing blog posts.  The exact opposite happens when I finally sit down at the computer with my free time and open up the blog.  Some people have these epiphanies and idea while showering or exercising, but no, I have them when I am barely conscious and incapable of remembering the clever idea that tied together my new shoes with world news.  I have heard people say that keeping a notebook or a journal next to the bed is the best idea to write these ideas down before you forget.  You think with my iPhone almost permanently attached to my hand, I could get it all together.  But no, here we both are halfway through a long-winded paragraph about how I don't do that and we both suffer because of it all.

One day, I will get it together.  For now, I share my favorite booties in the world and this new huge windchime they built in Overton Square.  Both are awesome.

I Solemnly Swear I Probably Won't Talk About Fall, Y'all.

floral maxi dress as shirt (previously here): ross // chambray top: jcpenney //
bubble necklace: groupdealz  // sandals: target // shades: cynthia rowley

I made a promise to myself, as I step back gingerly into blogging this season, that I would not use M of M as a platform to discuss weather.  Though I am holding my breath for cooler temps and layering and booties galore... I will not succumb to being one of those bloggers.
After this post.
I am going to layer and wear boots prematurely and enjoy the 98 degree temps like any other Southerner.  That way when fall finally shows his/her beautiful face, I will be all warmed up and ready to go.  Kapooya!
And in similar news, if I read another retweet of this tweet, I will LOSE it.
Pumpkin flavor is disgusting.  Get over it.

eShakti Bridesmaids Dress Review

If you did not catch yesterday's post, my little precious baby sister got married in June!  I was serving as co-MOH with my other sister in the bridal party, along with some other good looking ladies! When the bride, Sarah, told us she wanted green dresses we search HIGH and loooooow for a dress we all liked, in green, that we wouldn't hate wearing in 100 degree weather at an outside wedding.  It was hard, hard, hard.  Not to mention we are all different ranges of sizes, heights, and skin tones.
Long story short, and a lot of Google searches later, the Bride decided a variety of shades of green and different styles could be fun and fresh for the ceremony. WINNING!
emerald green bridesmaids dress: c/o eShakti // gold sandals: payless

I've talked about eShakti a few times before (here, here, and here.) They have customized dresses in a HUGE variety of sizes that can be made specifically just for you, your mom, or your great Aunt Sally. They have a line of bridesmaids dress, y'all.  Seriously, you could outfit a Duggar wedding with this site.  I cannot explain my excitement when they sent me a dress from the line to review!
I picked the Hailey style in emerald green, and I was thrilled from the get-go.  It is hard for me to order a generic bridesmaid dress because i am not a generic size nor height.  eShakti did not disappoint and I totally give them a five star review for making this MOH's duties a little easier and A LOT cuter.
My other sister (far right) and my sister-in-law (far left) loved the idea of picking their dress, adjusting the hem and neck line, etc.  All three bridesmaids above rocked eShakti on Sarah's big day!
