Hippie Halloween

dress:  ASOS // fringe vest: target (old) // booties: barefoot tess //
ostrich bag: vintage gift // headband: claires // nails: house of holland

My favorite thing about Halloween (aside from the Reese's PB cups shaped like pumpkins) is trying to create a costume with the MOUNDS of crazy clothes I already own.  I had been eyeing this dress for a few weeks and when it went on sale, I was certain that it would be a perfect dress for a Hippie Halloween and forever after!  Even some of my friends mentioned that I looked like I was just dressed like "normal Bekah." I mentioned earlier this week that we celebrated a little early last week by going downtown (and I did upgrade my outfit a little by switching to a Johnny Loves Rosie flower headband.) If I go out tonight, I am considering putting together a Sons of Anarchy outfit with some of my new leather look items!  Do you order, DIY, or dig through your costumes for your Halloween costumes?  What are you going as tonight?

Cheers! Goblin Punch for everyone! xxoo

dear february fourteenth...

{dress: ROSS (old) | tights: we love colors | booties: lane bryant | belt: torrid | sweater: thrifted | necklace: bauble bar | heart headband: shop of worldy delights}

Dear February 14th,
I don't love (or hate) you for being the day of love.
Even if you are a contrived, commercialized day of over priced flowers, forced diamond giving and an excused public display of love competition.  To me- you're just an excuse to overwear my favorite color scheme and a headband with huge hearts on it.  I thank you for this and the reese peanut butter cup hearts!  Also, any holiday with a class party is fun in my book.  So, my little chickens, single, dating, or married... enjoy today with those people in your life because every day with them is a sparkly, shiny gift!
(Yeah, that cheese factor is pretty overwhelming, but do yourself a favor and wear a dress that you can spin in and your day will only improve.)

{insta}Merrymaking

Cookouts, a little hometown fun, and lots of booze.
Summer is officially here.
Have a merry Memorial Day weekend!  Hopefully you can take three days to sit outside, sip some cocktails and spend some time with those closest to you.  Those are my priorities until Tuesday AM.

Long friendships.
 Piggly Wiggles.
 Cook outs.
 SIX DAYS!
 I believe in iced lattes.
^ Amazon. $10. BELIEVE IT! ^
I really like daiquiris, and it seems everyone knows.
End of the year presents include:

Party on, chickens.

I am thankful for:
my family's unwavering love and acceptance
my dear friends, whom i cherish more now than ever
the hairy puppy who loves me unconditionally
the job that i was born to do
my relationships with new blogger friends
a good movie, a great book, powerful music
enough food to eat, a place to sleep
my optimism, which often surprises me the most
i am thankful for laughter
and for every Thanksgiving episode of FRIENDS ever made.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

tuesday's gone with the wind

Happy post-Valentine day to everyone!
I thought it would be me + the dog with some vino.
But it turns out my little kiddies at work think I'm pretty sweet:
Not to mention the note left on my car by darling Sister #1.
Thanks, chickens.

Sister #2 and I had a lot of fun with a lovely photo shoot yesterday afternoon.  The weather was so perfect + we had such a good time.

Isn't she a doll? Yep.

This merrymaker is feeling a little random this morning, overload on caffeine perhaps?

And getting antsy to finish exams + get started on some DIY projects this week, like these precious coasters seen here on Linley's blog, Dwelling & Telling.

Hitting up the craft stores this afternoon!
Also- send me positive thoughts for my bookshelf/dresser repainting!

I hope to post outfit pictures every other day, as I have time.  I appreciate the comments + positive reviews on the recent ones :)  I love reading other style blogs + seeing their outfits.  It is so inspiring for when I open my closet door.  I am working on my discipline!

INSPIRATION for TODAY
We are halfway through February, chin up, my chickens, spring is almost here.
Happy Tuesday from me + mine ---> you + yours.

prep for valentine's day, sweethearts

Monday is the heart day!
I'm a big fan of Valentine's Day's color scheme.
But- that is just about where my fondness for said holiday ends.

I'm all for reds and pinks, golds and purples
(does purple count? i always count purple...)
and the more sparkles, the better.
Whether you are going out with your sweetheart or having a sparkly night out
with your best girls, it certainly is fun to dress for the holiday.

Here's a perfect look for any February 14th plans:

It wouldn't be Valentine's without some sweets.
These beautiful mini cakes recreate the look of a box of chocolates.
I don't know a gal who wouldn't LOVE to receive these treats.

The gold plated cakes are adorable.
I'm drooling.

YUM.
Also, I came across these adorable chocolate covered strawberries on my friend Ashley's blog.
They're the most precious things ever.  If I was more brave, I'd attempt them myself.

Some bling for all my single ladies...

So, if you want to share your declaration of love and your budget doesn't allow too much stretching-
Check out these adorable e-valentines from Kate Spade.
I've already sent out a number of them to my nearest + dearest.

Enjoy your frills + your chocolates.
And remind all your valentines how much you love them everyday,
not just mandated commercialized holidays..
 Happy Valentine's Day!
