200th post + the grocery store

{dress: c/o eShakti, belt/necklace: dots, wedges: payless, cardi: LB, clutch: thrifted}

Welcome to the 200th post of Matters of Merrymaking!
Can you believe it?  It seems like just yesterday that this little blog was taking off with little direction and no-how.  Almost a year ago! It's been the biggest year of my life so far in many ways, and I just wanna thank all of my blog loves that have had such an influence on me.

Moving on!  Last night, my sisters, my mom, (and Kelsey, muwah) went to the Dixon Art Gallery for a Sparkling Evening at the Dixon.  Charlotte is one of our favorite fine jewlery stores here in Memphis, and it was such a fun event.  We got to taste different champagnes and wines, paired with CHOCOLATE by Chocistry!
I mean, could you imagine anything more divine??
There was chocolate made with sweet potato, bacon and pepper, and cherry blossom.  A kick in the taste buds, for sure.

I was so excited to debut my new suede red pumps, and got lots of compliments on them.
We all know how I feel about wine and art... the most perfect evening :)

Thanks for coming by for the 200th post and stuff.
You rock, little chickens.

And if you are a huge fan of my grocery store pics, it's because the gal helped me conquer my fear of public fashion photography! That's my sister, E, she took my pictures AND picked out the perfect tomatoes in the aisles of Kroger.  Flawlessly, might I add.

trolleys and karaoke bars

Happy Monday folks! Boy, it flew by, like always!
Friday night, we went to the Historic South Main Arts District, downtown.
All of the stores and art galleries open up and have drinks and food and you can ride the trolley for free from stop to stop.  It only happens once a month and I will definitely go again next time.
We had so much fun! Sangria and a reason to dress up? HELLO, I'm sold.

So many backdrops... I couldn't pick just one, y'all.
Later Friday evening, we had a bittersweet time at my favorite karaoke dive bar.
Yosemite Sam's has been around since my parents were my age, and even before.
They had their last night of karaoke this past weekend, and we will miss them dearly.
Here's to the memories made and the songs butchered!

Did my chickens have a lovely weekend? I hope so.
Love yas.

works of art

It's official! I love going to art shows.  Whether I know the artist or not, I love dressing up, drinking wine, and looking at art.  It's the second best thing to margaritas and karaoke.
My friend's husband recently had a prominent local show and a huge group turned out and it was amazing.  I got the best statement necklace recently, and it was a steal at $14! I love it.  Expect to see it super often.  School starts back in the next week, so look forward (hopefully) for daily outfits returning after my summer off.  I am ready for full on teacher mode.

Oh- and look who is a work of art: ME!
Excuse the water hose, I was shooting at my sister's house.
I used to HATE the shirts/dresses with cut outs on the sleeves, but I fell in LOVE with this dress and I think I might just be a superfan now.
Some BFFs at the show :)
Have a merry weekend xoxoxo

art shows & hair bows

HAPPY JUNE, YA'LL!
and boy, is it a hot one!
Speaking solely for myself, it is way to hot outside to even function.  Especially, when you add in the humidity, heat index, and air alerts.  It's cray cray.

I took these pics last night when we went out to a friend's art opening.  I wasn't even planning on shooting my outfit, if you can believe it.  I saw these amazing location and was like "TAKE MY PICTURE!"  It's such a fashion blogger thing to do, chickens.

Thankfully, my fellow art aficionados agreed & sister #2 even hopped in a couple herself, that little fashion maven.

The art show was fabulous! The picture above was my favorite piece, so I had to snap a pic.
I love art openings and trolley nights, where the whole arts districts has shows.
SO MUCH FUN!  Especially when there is a nightcap, aka, a top shelf margarita.
I hope all of my chickens are staying cool and comfy, and enjoying their weekend.

Summer camp starts MONDAY! As does:
BEKAH'S BIRTHDAY WEEK!
My birthday is Thursday, so be prepared for tons of merrymaking and posts on ME!
If you can't wait for the posts, follow me on twitter :)

And until we meet again, stay merry!
