Netflix Rut

We gave up on cable TV completely a few years ago.  I didn't have it growing up because they couldn't offer it to us because of where we lived.  By the time I went to college, my parents finally got the service, but I was dorm living with my own E! channel, so I was golden.  Don't get me wrong, I love sitcoms, dramas, and even the most asinine reality shows... but cable just wasn't worth it for me.
Enter: Netflix.
I've been obsessed with Netflix for going on seven or so years, before I owned any streaming device...
Now, I just stream!  We don't miss cable one bit, and we also have Hulu Plus & Amazon Prime.  I can watch any show, at any time with no commercials! That is the way life should be.  Let's face it, the world is going that way.  I consider myself a bit of a Netflix aficionado.  You name it, chances are that I have seen it. Better yet, I have probably binge watched it.
Am I a better person for it?  Besides my increased knowledge of vampires (Vampires Diaries,) how to be a doctor (Scrubs, Hart of Dixie,) my rights & the law (all three series of Law & Order) or how to make meth (Breaking Bad, ps JK Mom) I'm probably not.  Then there are the lessons that Dexter taught us, which reminds me that television shows are not how-to videos.
Don't try any of the above at home, little chickens.
My point in all of this (if you're one of the two people probably still reading) is that I am in a serious Netflix rut.  I've revisited favorites, I've watched those movies that I have been putting off (Fargo was insanely awesome) but I need some input!  Hit me with your best shot show or movie and help me with another unnecessary obsession! What are friends for?
Or else I will be forced to read one of the seven half read books on my kindle.
I was not asked to write this for any reason, these are just my thoughts.
Netflix should probably pay me not to write about them.
Disclaimer: obviously I have a life, this post might just not get that point across.
I'm going to go play outside now.

  1. Have you ever watched Twin Peaks?
(Fargo is one of my favorite films, by the way!)

  2. I watch way too much Netflix.... haha but, I'm ok with that!! Seriously, I have a problem binge watching entire television show seasons. Anywayssssssss, I stumbled upon the CUTEST movie EVER called Populaire. It's in French, so there are subtitles, but it takes place in the 50s and the main character is training for a speed typing contest. It's kinda quirky and just a fun watch. (If you've seen it or don't like it -- I'm sorry hah)

  3. Have you heard from Netflix yet? Ha ha ... I wish I had a recommendation. I do not have a personal computer or streaming device at this time so I am simply gleaming entertainment from Redbox. I did borrow my roommates computer the other night and watch some of the The Mindy Project. I LOL'd a number of times. Seen it?

  4. I have Comcast, because it's the cheapest I could find. How do you stream Netflix? I don't have the internet and our Wii just died a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking about getting Apple tv, but it just seems so complicated. I'm not a 'techie' gal, so I've just stuck with simple Comcast. I have sooo many questions! lol

    1. I stream through DVD players and the Xbox! Most blu ray players have Internet capability. It's a life changer. Apple TV is good but there's also a Roku- it's how my dad streams Netflix and Amazon prime videos/shows!

  5. Have you watched Orange is the New Black? That one's good. As for movies, Bachelorette was kind of a fun one.

  6. I just finished Orange is The New Black. I've started House of Cards. After that, I'm going to start Veronica Mars on Amazon Prime.

    Friday Night Lights is great.

Grey's Anatomy is great, especially in the first 5 seasons.

    I'm sure there's more, but I forget.

    1. I need to get to Friday night lights. It has such a big following! I tried heroes too but I couldn't get past the first episode. If something doesn't keep me coming back, I have a hard time.
The dome miniseries is on amazon too, you should watch!! I loved it.

  7. I need to get Hulu Plus, I keep putting it off. Try the movie "Take this Waltz," with Michelle Williams and Seth Rogan. I was surprised at how good it was. I binge watch Netflix like crazy, just started the Vampire Diaries and I am almost caught up, so I need to pick my next show to 'conquer' :)

  8. I'm starting a new lease in March and planning to go cable-less. I currently have Netflix and may take on Hulu Plus also. I'm currently watching the Carrie Diaries, and have a list of shows to start after that. Woo. Go team no cable.

  9. "Dawosn's Creek," obviously!

I was also surprised to find that I really enjoyed both "Bones" & "Medium," which I blazed through on Netflix.

  10. I watch a lot of Korean dramas on Netflix. The entire series is pretty easy to get through (usually only 16-30 episodes). They're sometimes so bad they're good. Best ones on Netflix are Shut Up Flower Boy Band, To the Beautiful You, and Boys Over Flowers (one of the most popular Korean dramas, ever).

  11. Revenge, Scandal, Arrested Development, The OC, Pushing Daisies, Scandal, Daria, Grey's Anatomy, Orange is the New Black, Parks n Rec, Modern Family...

(I was too lazy to read all the comments above me hahaha but hopefully some of these suggestions help!)

  12. Doctor Who and The Inbetweeners! The Inbetweeners is probably the British guy version of New Girl, except waaaay more awkward and funnier. I laugh every time I watch an episode.
